Word Yacht

One ten-letter rack, nine scoring categories, one shot at each.

About Word Yacht

Word Yacht takes the scorecard structure of a dice game and runs it on letters. You get a single ten-letter rack and nine categories to fill: three-letter, four-letter and five-plus-letter words, Straight, Starter, Slam, Yacht and a Bonus for seven or more. Every word you submit has to be built from the rack, three letters minimum.

The tension is allocation. A strong word can satisfy several categories, but it only fills one, so choosing where to bank it is the actual game. Chasing Yacht — hitting the word-count threshold for the big bonus — can pay enormously or leave three categories empty.

The rack comes from the shared daily seed, so every player gets the same letters. Shuffling the tiles is free and keeps your progress. Words are validated against the public-domain ENABLE dictionary.

If you know the dice game the name nods to, the shape will feel familiar: fixed categories, one entry each, and a bonus for filling the card well. The difference is that dice give you new material every turn, while here the rack is the rack — every category has to be paid for out of the same ten letters, so the order you fill the boxes matters as much as the words you find. Playing the boxes that depend on rare combinations first, before you have spent the letters they need, is most of the skill.

How to win at Word Yacht

Fill the fragile categories first
Slam and Straight depend on specific letter combinations that may not exist in your rack. Test whether they are even possible before you spend good words on categories you can fill at any time.
Do not bank a long word in a short category
An eight-letter word dropped into the three-letter box wastes most of its value. Keep a mental floor for each box and only fill it with a word that is close to the smallest thing that qualifies.
Count before you commit to Yacht
Yacht needs volume. Estimate how many words the rack really holds in the first twenty seconds — if the vowel count is low, abandon the bonus and optimise the ordinary categories instead.
Use the Starter bonus as a tiebreak
When two candidate words score the same, take the one sharing a first letter with words you have already played. The Starter bonus is the cheapest points on the card.

Word Yacht questions

How many categories does Word Yacht have?
Nine: three-letter, four-letter, five-plus-letter, Straight, Starter, Slam, Yacht and Bonus seven-plus.
Can I use a letter more than once?
Only if it appears more than once in the rack. A word may not use any rack letter more times than the rack contains it.
Does shuffling the rack lose my progress?
No. The shuffle button only rearranges the tiles on screen.
What is the Yacht bonus?
Yacht pays a large bonus for submitting enough valid words to reach the run’s word-count threshold.
Is the Word Yacht rack the same for everyone?
Yes. The daily rack comes from one shared seed, so every player on a given date works the same ten letters and scores compare directly.
