1.Where you can talk
Signed-in players can talk in three places. Guests can read the lobby but cannot post.
- Channels: the lobby, a per-game channel, and a channel for each multiplayer room. Everyone in the channel sees the last 200 messages.
- Whispers: private messages between two players.
- Quick phrases and emotes: a menu of pre-written phrases (“Nice hand”, “Good game”) and about fourteen emotes, posted as messages so they follow the same rules.
Typed messages are limited to 140 characters, and you can send one every 1.5 seconds.
2.The rules
- Be kind, especially when you lose. A bad beat is not a reason to be unpleasant.
- No harassment. No threats, bullying, slurs, sexual remarks, or singling people out for who they are.
- No personal details — yours or anyone else’s. No phone numbers, emails, addresses, or other social handles. The filter rejects these automatically.
- No links, spam or advertising.
- No cheating talk. Do not share today’s daily board or answers, and do not coordinate to game a leaderboard.
- Assume there are teenagers in the room. The site is 13+. Keep it something you would say at a family game night.
- Emotes count. Spamming emotes or using them to taunt is the same as typing it.
- Handles and display names follow the same rules as messages.
3.What the filter does
Every message — typed, phrase or emote — passes through a filter on our server before it is stored. It:
- Rejects messages containing a short list of slurs and abusive phrases.
- Rejects anything that looks like a phone number, an email address, a link, or a reference to another messaging app.
- Lower-cases all-caps shouting and collapses repeated characters.
- Caps length at 140 characters.
It is a word filter, not a judgement. It will miss things and it will occasionally block something harmless. It does not read whispers differently from public chat — the same rules apply to both.
4.Moderation during the beta (what exists and what does not)
We would rather tell you what is missing than pretend. As of this draft:
| Tool | Status |
|---|---|
| Word and contact-details filter | Live, on every message |
| Send rate limit | Live (one message per 1.5 s) |
| Block a player | Supported on the server; no button in the interface yet. Ask us and we will apply it. |
| Report a message or player | Not built yet. Use the contact address below. |
| Mute a player or a channel | Not built yet. |
| Human moderation queue | Not built yet. One person reads reports by hand. |
| Message deletion / retention limit | Not built yet. Messages are kept indefinitely for now. |
Because those tools are missing, chat is deliberately small and low-stakes during the beta, and we will remove chat access from anyone who makes it unpleasant, on the first report if it is clear-cut.
5.How to report something
Until there is a report button, write to us at the contact address published on this page once it is set (UNSPECIFIED — a contact address has not been published yet during the beta). Tell us the handle, roughly when, and what was said; we can look it up. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. For anything involving a child, say so and we will treat it as the top priority.
6.Consequences
Breaking these rules can mean deleted messages, loss of chat, loss of scores or badges, or a suspended or deleted account, as described in the Acceptable Use policy. During the beta these calls are made by one person and there is no formal appeal; if you think we were wrong, write and say so.
